How Technology Changes Our Life

I believe technology is a very good invention. I agree with Albert Einstein because technology is slowly doing everything for us; therefore, making us idiots. It does help in a variety of areas such as education, communication, medicine, and life. There has to be a boundary of how technology can be used.
Technology has helped education with reading, comprehension, math, and other subjects. Children need many resources to be sufficient today. Technology in schools is great because there is a time limit of how long they can be on the laptop or computer. Many children when they go home are unsupervised or are able to stay on their devices for very long periods of time. Younger children should be taught ahead of time that it is only for a little time. Most of their time should be spent with family and friends so they can socialize. Children can learn to plant something or make something with their hands. The Nature Valley video surprised me with the three different generations and it was sad to see how children feel normal being in a game. A child should feel normal around children his or her age and be able to play with them. Technology has intervened with communication hence why we should limit time on it.
Communication is a great way to get technology into the home environment. Many families need it to get a hold of their family members. Adults are responsible for the time spent on phones and should be of example to children or younger siblings. The hijacked family dinner was eye-opening because even adults were going crazy because the internet was turned off was surprising. Watching the young adults and children screaming and yelling was hard to see because it is just a device. Those emotions for a simple device was not a great reaction. We should be able to express other types of emotions to real live people. Maybe not the screaming or yelling but it does happen sometimes. The parents should have a built-in pepper shaker to turn off the wifi because family time is needed. There are other important things we can show emotion to.
Medicine is very needed in the life of many people. People don't want to see their family members suffer from a disease if there is a cure. The practice of medicine has come a long way and has regulations that need to be followed. The ethics of people should not be taken lightly. Yes, medicine is important, but it should not be on the cost of an innocent's life. The first gene-edited baby is a great example of this. The researcher who helped edit the gene of an HIV embryo can be a help in the epidemic of the spread of this harmful disease, but the research doesn't know how this baby will react to his gene edit. It will be a success if the baby is unharmed and does not suffer from other disabilities. If there are consequences the baby has to suffer because of the edit in the genes, it should be considered heinous. All the countries should get together to decide what should be done and what is not a rightful practice.
In conclusion, technology should have a limit. Technology is great in helping in moments but should not take over our lives. The changes technology makes are not to be taken lightly because we can easily make us idiots. We should let our own minds make decisions and make rules to help the living things on this earth.

  1. Great post! I have to agree with you that technology needs a limit. Technology has advanced so many areas, but at the same time it has hurt other areas. I agree with your comments about Einstein's quote. People today can't even do a simple task such as carrying on a conversation in person but they can through technology. Technology wasn't meant to replace human interactions. I feel like technology has really helped with education and medicine, but not so much with communication. I say this because yes with technology people are able to communicate more conveniently and faster with people all over the world but people aren't using it for just the good. They are abusing it and losing the ability to talk without the use of technology. The hijacking the dinner table video brought to life how dependent people are on technology. If everyone could set a limit on the use of technology then the world would be a better place in my opinion. Younger generations would still be experiencing nature and they would think sitting and playing video games for three hours at a time is right.

  2. To go along with Einstein's quote, I think that technology has ruined our communication skills, along with making us "idiots." We no longer can have discussions at a table without being interrupted by our cellphones. Also, our writing skills have been ruined because of "text talk." Many students now have a problem with writing because they are not used to the punctuation and having to spell everything out.

  3. Technology has become so important in this world. It defiantly has great benefits and its only getting better. I also see that technology is something that everyone goes to rather than going to an actual human. Technology is great it just has to be minimized so that we still know how to go to each other for help rather than a phone.

  4. I agree with your opinions on the topic of technology. I at first, did not agree with the quote that Einstein had said but your perspective made me further understand what he was actually trying to say. After you had explained that, because technology is doing a lot for us, we will soon not know how to do a lot of basic, everyday tasks, therefore making us "idiots". Great perspective!

  5. Agree with your point at the "limit" in technology use--how to use it wisely is the lesson we need to learn! It's really sad to see how newer generation spend more time online instead of interaction with "actual" outside world.Totally agree with your thought about how technology has more positive impact on medical and educational filed than on the human communication. I think Einstein's quote speak to this point.
